because an image speaks volumes in an instant.

Jackson Pollock states: “The modern artist is working with space and time, and expressing his feelings rather than illustrating.”

I see the expression of my heart as the most comprehensive illustration of the eternal theme
of the art: What for am I here? Who am I?
These questions I call self-understanding and,
in essence, they are the one and only theme
and title of all my pictures and writings as of
all my other doings too.

Edvard Munch said: “When I paint, I never think of selling. People simply fail to understand that we paint in order
to experiment and to develop ourselves as we strive
for greater heights.”

I fully agree and would like to add only one thing: I never looked at my painting as at a work. It is my way of life and thus my pictures reflect my going through the the test of life, they test my faithfulness and fitness to the eternal kingdom.

I would be happy if my artworks could help you
to do the same, to serve you as the mirrors.
Not as my mirrors,
but as the mirrors of our consciousness.

Art works become priceless wealth in the society, but don’t lose heart if you haven’t a penny. The reflections of the sky in the river of your town are absolutely free; everyone can admire the compositions that are made from empty bottles and leaves of the lily.

Tomas Karkalas is a Lithuanian artist, writer, and radiant soul.

Thank you.

Today I turned on my computer and I was hard even to trust my own eyes. Am I not dreaming?
Your review of my works was so unexpected that it left me speechless. I am grateful. Thank you.
