it’s not a big truck.
It’s a series of tubes…

Violet, Indigo, and Blue from the series Roy G Biv
As children, it was how we remembered the colors of the rainbow:
red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.
Much like the rainbow itself, simultaneously simple and complex, I approached these paintings accordingly.
This seven-painting series consisted of a blend of geometrical shapes and line work in an array of hues
of any given color to create light and dark,
shadow and highlight. And most importantly, they were fun to make and look at.
Shawn Christopher’s work can be seen at JoaT Studio in the 1627 Studios
on Alberta Street in Portland, Oregon.

¡Viva Border Volleyball! October 19, 2006
Posted by ~V~ in : Politics, Video, Images, Philosophy , add a comment “Why not use this no-man’s land as a real beach
and see if we could strike up a friendly pickup game?
There’s no law against that.”
Or is there?
California’s most desolate and unknown beach is desolate and unknown for a reason. It has no name, no facilities, no parking lot.
“CONTAMINATED WATER; DEEP HOLES; RIPTIDES; NO LIFEGUARD; NO SWIMMING!” the signs announce.
This is a geopolitically divided beach, purposefully hidden. A fence of metal pylons draws a 20-foot-tall line in the sand all the way into the sea.
It is the perfect beach, in other words, for the world’s first game of international border volleyball.

Art, represented by Athena, the Greek patron goddess of the arts, symbolizes the law of creativity.
You are a creative artist in all aspects of being and in all endeavours of worldly life.Creativity is an alchemical art of dissolving old forms and recombining them as a new synthesis.
See the disintegration in your life as a creative opportunity. You communicate yourself to the world by shooting forth through the rainbow your ideas, visions, and products. Your creative expression, like the orchid, has an impact on the world.

They took your life apart
and called your failures Art.
They were wrong though
they won’t know
till tomorrow…
i got static in my head -
the reflected sound of everything.
Tried to go to where it led
but it didn’t lead to anything.
The noise is coming out
and if it’s not out now
i know it’s just about
to drown tomorrow out.

You give me miles and miles of mountains —
and i’ll ask for the sea.
What i give to you is just what i’m going through.
This is nothing new — just another phase
of finding what i really need…
